In my core I feel I'm a landscape painter but I'm finding myself moving away from painting representationally. What's interesting to me is not depicting the "place" so that someone can identify it but I want to convey the feeling of the place and what about it makes it beautiful. I look at the small areas of pattern, interesting light, color combinations, and dynamic shapes within a landscape.

These "abstract" paintings are born from a landscape but I've explored color, shape, tension, movement, and composition without being bound by rules for depicting "reality" or telling a "story".
